WGAL News 8 Live at Harrisburg’s Oldest Black Cemetery
At Harrisburg’s oldest Black Cemetery WGAL News 8 Live: Volunteers working with SOAL at Harrisburg’s Lincoln Cemetery will collect geospatial data, photographs and information related to each stone in the cemetery with a mobile app (ArcGIS Field Maps), which will be used to produce an interactive map that allows descendants and researchers to find ancestors’ graves.
Kate Merriman WGAL News 8 is reporting live from Lincoln Cemetery today where SOAL & Messiah University Center for Public Humanities are hosting a special day of service learning. Students, faculty & staff from Messiah University, Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, and a local high school class will learn about these historic grounds and participate in a digital humanities project to preserve the cemetery’s history. Volunteers will collect geospatial data, photographs and information related to each stone in the cemetery with a mobile app (ArcGIS Field Maps), which will be used to produce an interactive map that allows descendants and researchers to find ancestors’ graves.
