In 1997, Bruce Horner, created a record of all visible gravestones in Lincoln Cemetery. Many of these gravestones are no long visible, or their inscriptions have become illegible. At the time he completed his work, Bruce Horner wrote: "Due to weathering, etc., I tried as best I could to get every letter or number correct. The Cemetery itself is characterized by sinkholes in the obvious shapes of graves. Undoubtedly, there are stones completely buried and lost forever" (Horner, Bruce. Personal correspondence to Warren W. Wirebach, Librarian. June 1997). The system developed by Bruce Horner to record gravestone location does not correlate directly to the plot maps and burial record card system developed by Caretaker Carter. The Horner Records divide Lincoln Cemetery into four Quardrants. For most Horner Gravestone Records we will need much more time to cross-reference the various sources of burial location data, in order to pinpoint the exact location of the Cemetery plot.
