Marshall S. Waters, 94, of Jefferson St., transitioned into eternal life on Friday, June 6, 2008 at Holy Spirit Hospital.
He was born in Harrisburg, son of the late Robert A. and Agnes Roberta (Banks) Waters.
Marshall was a lifetime member of Trinity Church of God, (formerly known as Monroe Street Church of God), where he was a Life Elder Emeritus and served with the Men's Club. When the church was located on Monroe Street, he was responsible for the church maintenance.
He was retired from the Dauphin County Courthouse.
In the community, he was a former committee man for the Republican Party, a member of the Sibletown Reunion Committee, The Negro Baseball League, The 31 Club, and The Heinz-Menaker Senior Center.
Marshall was known as the community candy, cake, and ice cream man of the 2200 block of Jefferson Street.
In his leisure, he enjoyed baseball, playing pinochle at the Senior Center, and politics.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Waters, a granddaughter, a grandson, and twelve of his siblings.
He leaves to celebrate his life, his wife, Margaret I. Waters; his son, Craig Waters; his stepson, Robert Hume; his stepdaughters: Margaret Dickey, and Gwendolyn Williams; his brother, David Waters; his sister, Agnes Byrd, all of Harrisburg; his fifteen grandchildren; numerous great-grands; and, a host of other relatives and friends.
Marshall's life will be celebrated Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Sanctuary of his church, 2049 N. 4th St., with viewing from 09:00 - 11:00 AM.
Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
