Rebecca Dent Rogers, daughter of Charles Dent and Clementine Grannison Sloane, was born Friday, December 3, 1926, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Rebecca received her formal education in the Susquehanna Township School District where in 1944, she graduated from Susquehanna Township High School. After years of dedicated service, she retired from Fort Indiantown Gap as a Secretary.
At a young age, Rebecca's mother would take her to work with her where there was a piano. Rebecca showed an interest in playing and her mother's employer taught her how to play. As a child, her parents made sure she attended Sunday School and church. In the early 1960's, Sister Rogers united with the Mount Olive Baptist Church. Several years later, she followed her husband, Rev. Robert L. Rogers Sr., when he was called to pastor St. Mark Baptist Church.
On June 6, 1976, Sister Rogers was reinstated at Mount Olive. She immediately became the church pianist and also served with the Missionary Auxiliary, Willing Workers, Sunday School, Bible Study, Prayer Warrior, Discipleship Student, Women's Ministry and volunteer secretarial assistant. Sister Rogers remained a faithful member until on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, the Lord dispatched an Angel to the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, to escort his servant Home to receive her "Crown of Glory" joining her parents, husband and granddaughter, Maya Price.
Sister Rogers leaves to celebrate her life and honor her legacy one daughter, Iris Brown; one son, Robert L. Rogers Jr. and his wife Paula; a granddaughter whom she raised, Melanie Rogers and her fiancé Anthony Johnson, all of Harrisburg; nine other grandchildren, Leroy Brown and his wife Doris, Angelique Brown, Lindsay Brown, Stacie Mosby and her husband Mike, Danielle Brooks, Ebony Rogers, Robert Williams, Edward Bruton and Bernita Bruton, all of Harrisburg; seven great grandchildren, Drakkari Brooks, Maya House, Ariana Brown, all of Harrisburg, Jeriesha Godbee of Norfolk, Virginia, Jaquan Jones, Darion Brown and Devon Brown, all of Harrisburg; five great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Her life will be celebrated at 12 Noon, Thursday, September 5th, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1331 S. 14th Street, Hbg., with viewing from 11 AM to Noon and interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Friday, September 6, 2013, at 10:30 AM. Memorial gifts may be made to PA Breast Cancer Coalition, 2397 Quentin Rd, Suite B, Lebanon, PA 17042 and the American Heart Association, 1019 Mumma Road, Wormleysburg, PA 17043.
