- IN MEMORIAM
Death of Miss Mary Scott
To another soul the voice of God hath sweetly whispered, "peace." No tolling bells nor mourning populaces announced the death of one of the world's uncrowned, unassuming queens; but quietly, with "no sound of gently dipping oar," at 11 o'clock yesterday morning Miss Mary Scott's spirit was borne to the other shore. 1 he deceased had long been a most, faithful member of Wesley Union church, but being for the past seven years an invalid, she was unable .to attend regularly, and her voice has been missed in the choir. Of a retiring disposition, she rarely crossed the borders of her home, but shined where woman truly is queen at home. As a sister she was most loving, and though suffering untold misery she had ever a smile and a word of cheer for her brothers and sister, and as a daughter she was peculiarly devoted. Rarely is the world blessed with a daughter so loving and faithful. Deceased was born February 1st, 1851, and was therefore in her 38th year at the time of her demise. She was the oldest child of George and Rebecca Scott, and two brothers and a sister survive her. One of these brothers, Mr. John Scott, is the well - known and successful teacher in the Lincoln building of this city, and the other, Mr. George Scott, is a widely known Odd Fellow of Chicago. Death came quietly and she found rest, having long suffered from a complication of diseases. Notice of internment to be hereafter given.
