  Notes	Violet (or Viola) "Comfort" was born about 1810 in Pennsylvania. She was the wife of Thomas Bennett and Thomas Wallace (also spelled Wallice, Wallis.) From her union with Thomas Bennett, there were at least five children: Jeremiah (died in infancy), Hester Ann (m. John W. Young), Elizabeth "Lizzie" (m. Mr. Cross), Martha, and Rachel (m. Mr. Murdock) Bennett. Mr. Bennett died while the children were young. Her daughter Hester was fostered by a white family - the Vanderslices - at their farm in Bloomsburg, Hemlock Township, Pennsylvania. From her union with Thomas Wallace, there were at least five children: Margaret, Susanna "Susan" M. (m. Joseph Smith Berry), Sarah, Thomas Jefferson, and William "Will" Wallace (m. Margaret.) Her daughter Hester confirmed her place of death and burial in a deposition she gave in 1910: "My mother was Violet Bennett. I remember her. She has been dead for a good many years. She died in Harrisburg. She is buried in the Lincoln Cemetery, out in the country." Her daughter Lizzie explained her nickname: "My mother's right name was Viola, but she was such a comfort to the family, they called her Comfort Chester [...]"
