    " Reverend George Deskins was born in Juarez Mexico. He was the Pastor of Second Baptist church for two years. In 1891, Reverend Deskins along with thirty-three members of Second Baptist church located on eleventh street in Harrisburg, were spiritually inspired to branch off from their former church and to start St Paul Missionary Baptist Church. They led their first meeting in the home of Thomas and Henrietta Watson at 436 S Cameron Street in Harrisburg.

    In 1894 Reverend Deskins was succeeded by Reverend J.P. Lawrence. The congregation moved to a new location and worshipped at Starr’s Hall at Fulton and Broad Street in Harrisburg. In 1907 the church moved to eleventh and state street in Harrisburg."
